Biography
American politician, he became Speaker of the Massachusetts State House of Representatives in l2004. Di Masi is a graduate of Suffolk Law School. A former assistant district attorney, he was first elected to the Massachusetts House in 1979 and has been continually re-elected since then. He served as assistant majority Whip for two years, from 1996-1998 and became Majority Whip in 2001 a post he held until October 1, 2004 when he became Speaker of the House. Di Masi is considered charming and popular among his fellow Democrats and was the undisputed choice for Speaker when the post became available in 2004.
