Biography
American ecclesiastic and a twin. His twin sister Margaret was born at 11:06 PM.
After atttending St. Paul Seminary and Duquesne University he graduated from the Catholic University with a B.A. and M.A. Degree in Philosophy. He subsequently went to Rome for theological studies at the North American College and earned his S.T.B. degree at Gregorian University and an S.T.L. in Patristics at the Augustinianum. Ordained a Roman Catholic priest in Pittsburgh on July 16, 1977, he he was ordained bishop on October 7, 1997. He was appointed Archbishop of Galveston-Houston in Texas on February 28, 2006 and elevated to Cardinal on November 24, 2007.
