Belgian Jesuit priest and mathematician of repute. He died in Barcelona, aged 55, on 4 November 1652.
Sy Scholfield quotes "Joannes Della Faille S.j: Mathematics, Modesty and Missed Opportunities" by Ad Meskens (Belgisch Historisch Instituut te Rome, 2005): "Joannes della Faille was born on 1 March 1597, at half past ten in the evening. He was the son of Jan-Karel sr., Lord of Rijmenam, and of Maria van den Wouwere. He was baptized the next day in Our Lady's Church."
