Biography
French cinematographer who began as an editor, sound recordist and director of short films. After service in WW II as a cameraman with the French Air Force, he produced industrial and commercial films as well as his documentaries. Directing over 31 films, 12 in the U.S. and four in the U.K., he became a favorite of French New Wave, working with Melville, Chabrol and Malle.
Decae made two marriages. He died 3/07/1987, Suresnes, France.
