Biography
Belgian Roman Catholic ecclesiastic, Archbishop of Malines-Brussels from December 19, 1979 and elevated to Cardinal on February 2, 1983. He was ordained a priest in 1957. After earning his doctorate he taught at the Bruges seminary and at the Catholic University of Leuven.
