Biography

Romanian-American Bridge expert, writer and editor. He moved to the U.S. after the Russian revolution of 1917 wiped out the family fortune. An accomplished bridge player, he began to play contract as a professional and won national recognition in a contest in 1931. Culbertson was the author of bridge text-books that included the "Contract Bridge Blue Book," 1930 and "Contract Bridge Complete," 1954.

He devoted much of his later life to world peace and wrote "Total Peace" in 1943.

Culbertson died on 12/27/1955, Brattleboro, VT.
