Biography
American historian and writer, an important novelist who specialized in sea romances and wilderness adventures. He was expelled from Yale as a rowdy youth and went to sea until 1811, at which time he retired and married. His first book was published in 1820, and his works included "The Spy," "The Leather-Stocking Tales" and "The Last of the Mohicans."
Cooper married Susan Augusta De Lancey in 1811 and he died on 9/14/1851, Cooperstown, NJ.
