Biography
American baseball player: star pitcher for the Boston Red Sox who drafted him in 1983. On November 5, 1996, he was granted free agency and signed with the Toronto Blue Jays on December 13 that year. On February 18, 1999 he was traded to the New York Yankees and played until the 2004 season when he donned the Houston uniform. Clemens has pitched in several World Series games and has won many awards.
He was implicated in the steroid scandal but denied that he had ever taken the illegal substance. Instead, he said, his trainer had injected him with vitamin B-12 and lidocaine. On January 6, 2008 he filed a suit in Houston, TX against his former trainer for "false and defamatory" statements.
Adding to his headaches caused by allegations of his illegal drug use, a news report in April 2008 claimed he had had a ten-year affair with country singer Mindy McCready. The affair reportedly began in 1991 when she was 15 and he was 28, married, with two children. She confirmed the report but he said nothing “improper” happened.
