Incorporation as a city: Dec. 2, 1869
Earliest incorporation as a town was approved by the Governor January 14, 1865 and the first election was held on April 3, 1865 (1864 Territory of Washington Laws at pp. 75-78).
Incorporation as a city passed the House December 1, 1869, passed the Council December 1, 1869 and was approved by the Governor December 2, 1869 (1869 Territory of Washington Laws at pp. 437-455).
