Earliest incorporation, as a city: Feb. 27, 1850

Made state capital, effective: Feb. 26, 1854

Earliest incorporation, as "Sacramento City," was passed February 27, 1850 (1849 California Laws, Chapter 21, pp. 70-75). This act states that the city's charter was adopted by the electorate on October 13, 1849 (ibid).

Designated county seat in an act that created Sacramento County, passed February 18, 1850 (1849 California Laws, Chapter 15, p. 61).

Made state capital in a law passed February 25, 1854, effective February 26, 1854 (1854 California Laws, Chapter 8, p. 21).
