Earliest incorporation, as a city: Feb. 6, 1851
First election: April 7, 1851
Earliest incorporation, as Provo City, was passed by the General Assembly of the State of Deseret and was approved by Governor Brigham Young February 6, 1851 (1851 State of Deseret Laws and Ordinances at pp. 50-58). This act specified that the first election was to be held on April 7, 1851 (ibid).
Incorporation as Provo City by the Territory of Utah was approved January 21, 1864, was in force from and after January 24, 1864, and repealed the earlier ordinance by the State of Deseret (1864 Territory of Utah Laws at pp. 25-37).
