Earliest incorporation, as a city: May 29, 1950
The entire township of Livonia was incorporated as the home rule city of Livonia under the provisions of a general law, subject to approval by a majority of the electorate at a special election held on February 6, 1950 (1950 Michigan Acts, Appendix, p. 648). Incorporation proceedings were filed in the office of the Secretary of State May 29, 1950 on which date it became legally incorporated (ibid).
