Earliest incorporation, as a city: Nov. 25, 1925
Creation and incorporation as a city was approved November 25, 1925, effective when approved (1925 Extraordinary Session, Florida Special Acts, Chapter 11520, pp. 1088-1165). The electorate adopted this charter at a meeting held at 12:00 pm on November 28, 1925 (History of Hollywood 1920 to 1950 by Virginia TenEick, p. 230).
On September 18, 1926, a 150 MPH hurricane struck, hitting Hollywood hardest (A Biographic History of Broward County by Bill McGoun, p. 12).
