U.S. city. Population 154,021 (1999) +3.5% 1990-1999. County seat of Broward County.
Incorporated as a town: Mar. 27, 1911
Incorporation as a town under a general act was effective when it was entered by the clerk of the circuit court upon the public records of the county on March 27, 1911 (Minute Book, City of Fort Lauderdale, vol. 1, p. 1 as cited in A List of Municipal Corporations in Florida, revised, prepared by the Historical Records Survey, Work Projects Administration, March 1941, Jacksonville, Florida: Historical Records Survey, p. 27 and Ft. Lauderdale Magazine, Summer, 1975, p. 150).
Incorporation as a town by the legislature was approved June 2, 1911, effective upon approval (1911 Florida Special Laws, Chapter 6344, pp. 453-466).
