Biography

Swedish royalty, the daughter of King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden and Maria Eleanora of Brandenburg. A Queen at age six, she was crowned at 18 and given a boy's education in classics and politics. She fostered trade and manufacture, education, literature and science. Scorning marriage, she crowned herself King and had favorites of both sexes, becoming unpopular and surrounded by intrigue.

Christina died 4/19/1689 in Rome, at age 62.
