Biography
Swedish royalty, the only son of Charles X and Hedwig Leonara of Holstein-Gottorp; king at age four with the death of his father. His education was neglected and he was almost illiterate but with sterling qualities, became one of the great kings of Sweden. Modest and homespun, he was a master-builder and was devoted to the good of his country.
Charles had seven kids of whom three survived him. He died at 41, on 4/05/1697.
