Biography
American pro baseball pitcher who was selected right out of high school in the sixth round draft pick as a free agent by the Chicago Cubs 6/02/1987. Playing for the Cubs, he was placed on the disabled list off-and-on in 1988, 1991 and 1994. He was traded by the Cubs to the Colorado Rockies 7/15/1997, granted free agency in October and signed with the Detroit Lions 12/11/1997.
Castillo was named the Appalachian League Player of the Year in 1987, pitched a 4-0 no-hit victory against Huntsville 7/13/1990 and pitched a 7-0 one-hit, complete-game victory against St. Louis 9/25/1995. At 6' 1", 200 lbs, he throws right, bats right and has played in the National League team for seven years as of 1998.
