Biography

Italian commissioner of police, attached to the political office of police HQ of Milan. He was implicated in the investigation of a political suicide, that of Pinelli, which was revealed to be a homicide.

Calabresi was assassinated the morning of 5/17/1972, c. 9:15 AM by unknown killers when he left home, Rome. He was shot twice by a young man in a Fiat with another person driving. In January 2000, the courts of Venice confirmed the guilt of Sofri, Bompressi and Pietro Stefani for his murder. The investigations implicated a political group, Lotta Continua, but without conclusions. In July 1988, Leonardo Marino, a member of the group, turned himself over to the police and declared that he had participated in the homicide. He was the driver of the car from which Ovidio Bompressi shot Calabresi on the orders of Sofri and Stefani, executives of the party.
