Biography

American entrepreneur and noted family, the third son of President George Bush. He always hated politics and took up oil exploration. He became a director on the board of Colorado's Silverado S&L in 1985, in which position he was at the vortex of the biggest financial scandal in the nation's history, 1990. He was accused of contributing to the failure of the S&L, which cost taxpayers about $1.6 billion. The Feds brought a $200 million damage suit that charged Neil and 11 others with gross negligence. His dad gave him a slap on the wrist and he paid a $50,000 fine.

Neil was a kid with dyslexia and found school difficult. He nonetheless earned a B.A. in international relations and an MBA from Tulane. He moved to Denver in 1980 where he formed an oil company with two partners. They drilled 31 holes with no strikes.

In 1980, he met Sharon Smith who became his wife; they had three kids, Lauren, Pierce and Ashley. By 2000, he was running an educational-software company. After 22 years of marriage, he and Sharon separated in September 2002 and their messy divorce became final in spring of 2003. Neil wed Maria Andrews on March 6, 2004 in Houston, TX.
