Biography
British novelist noted for his comic imagination and skillful use of language. His "Clockwork Orange," published in 1962, was a thriller set in a classless and futurist society. The book was later made into a film. He also wrote "A Novel in Four Movements," 1974. Burgess died on 22 November 1993 from lung cancer, at the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth in London.

Bordoni quotes Amica magazine; in October 2007 Sy Scholfield finds similar information given in Andrew Biswell's book, "The Real Life of Anthony Burgess" (Picador, 2005), p. 1. Biswell writes that Burgess was born "at midday ... just after the pubs had opened."
