Biography
American poliician, conservative Republican and presidential hopeful in the 2008 race.
Brownback grew up on a farm owned by his parents. He earned a law degree in 1982 and worked as a lawyer initially. In 1986, he became the youngest Secretary of Agriculture in Kansas history. In the George H.W. Bush administration, Brownback was a White House Fellow for one year, returning to his position in the Arkansas cabinet in 1991. In 1994, he was elected to the House of Representatives; two years later he was elected to the Senate.
He and his wife have five children.
