Biography

American actor whose rise to stardom began with the role as Detective Reynaldo "Rey" Curtis on NBC's Law & Order, in 1995. After he left the show in 1999, he appeared in many movies including: The Next Best Thing (2000),

Exiled: A Law and Order Movie (1998), Woman Undone (1995), Kill or Be Killed (1993), Blood In Blood Out (1993), Demolition Man (1993), Bound by Honor (1993), Shadow Hunter (1992), and Chains of Gold (1991).

Benjamin's parents are of diverse background. His mother Eldy is Quechua Indian from Lima, Peru, while his father is of mixed German and English descent. Bratt has three sisters and one brother, Peter Bratt, who is a director, as well as three half-brothers from father's first marriage.

After graduating from San Francisco's Lowell High School in 1982, he went to the University of California at Santa Barbara, where he obtained his B.F.A. with honors in 1986. In addition, he entered the Master's program at the American Conservatory Theater of San Francisco.

Bratt enjoyes many sports, including surfing, mountain biking, rock climbing, swiming and tennis.

Before his marriage in his late '30s, he had a few long-term relationships. He dated Monika McClure, a documentary filmmaker, exclusively for six years, and dated Julia Roberts for four years, from 1997-2001. He married model Talisa Soto on April 13, 2002 and the couple has two children, a daughter Sophia Rosalinda, born December 6, 2002 in New York City and a son Mateo Bravery Bratt, born October 3, 2005 in Los Angeles.
