Biography
Dutch Roman Catholic priest and university teacher. Outspoken against the Nazis, he was secretly a member of the Resistance. Exposed, he was taken to Dachau where he died on 7/26/1942, 2:00 AM, after being in the infirmary from 6/18 with extreme diarrhea and edema. The Pope canonized him prior to being named a Saint by the Church. He is considered a great moral hero.
