Biography
Italian politician. (Borgia was an illegitimate son of Pope Alexander VI. In 1499 Cesare conquered the Romagna Region for the Holy See and many principalities in central Italy. After Cesare's enemies joined forces against him, he lured their leaders to the castle of Senigallia, where he had them executed. Following the death of Alexander VI in 1503, Cesare's enemies seized Cesare's dominions in central Italy and later deprived of the rest of his holdings, he moved to Naples, then under Spanish control. After being arrested for conspiratorial activities, taken to Spain, he escaped and joined his brother-in-law, the king of Navarre, in an expedition against Castile, during which he was killed in action, in 1507.)
