Source Notes

Marcello Borges quotes Compact Data, a DOS-based astrological database created by Matrix Software in the 80's; no sources; many errors (Style not given, probably OS) Encyclopedias give 1507 with a ?. In February 2006, Tim Rubald writes: "I've been watching the 2003 PBS special, The Six Wives of Henry VIII. All they give for a birth date is "1501(?)". A Tudor history web site does little more:

Anne Boleyn

BORN: c.1500?

MARRIED: JANUARY 1533

EXECUTED: 19 MAY 1536

For a woman who played such an important part in English history, we know remarkably little about her earliest years. Antonia Fraser puts Anne's birth at 1500 or 1501, probably at Blickling (Norfolk) and the date of birth seems to be at the end of May or early June. Other historians put Anne's birth as late as 1507 or 1509." http://tudorhistory.org/boleyn/

Wikipedia has: ca. 1501 and writes: Earlier historians considered 1507 to be the accepted date but in 1981, the art historian Hugh Paget successfully demonstrated that a letter Anne had written in 1513 from Brussels when she was a maid of honour in that court, a position which was only open to a 12- or 13-year-old, was not the hand of a six-year-old.
