Biography
American writer, one of the most distinguished lyric poets in the English language. She worked as a poetry critic for "New Yorker" magazine for 38 years, during which time she was honored with every major poetry award. She also taught at major universities. Bogan's work included "A Poet's Alphabet," 1970 and "Body of This Death," 1925.
Her first husband, Curt Alexander, died in 1920. Her marriage to Raymond Holden ended in divorce in 1937; they had one daughter together.
Died on 2/04/1970 of a heart attack, alone in her New York City apartment.
