Biography
American aeronautical engineer, writer, and educator he has authored three books and many papers in his field. He headed the Astronautics and Aeronautics Department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 1966-1968 and for the next three years acted as Dean of the School of Engineering. In 1974 he became the Chancellor of the University of Missouri. Three years later he entered private industry, becoming Vice President of research at Tyco Laboratories. He was married with two children. He died of cancer on March 5, 1985.
