Biography

French educator and writer. Formerly working as the

secretary of writer André Gide, she became a journalist. As an expatriate, she taught in Canadian and American universities.

Beck is the author of "The Priest," for which she won the Goncourt prize, 1952, "The Passionate Heart," and "Stella Corfou," both prize-winning titles. She was awarded the Prix de Monaco in 1989 for the body of her work.

Beck married 9/26/1936.
