American poet and English professor at the University of Georgia. At least one book of his poems is in print.
Among other interests, he is the translator of Jelaluddin Rumi, the 13th century poet from Konya, Turkey. He brings Rumi to life for English-speaking people with his translation into English of a dozen books of Rumi's poetry. When he reads Rumi, his performances are set against a background of tone-poem music, simple and evocative renderings.
