Brazilian writer, jurist, and politician. For his distinguished participation in the 2nd Hague Conference, he earned the nickname "Eagle of the Hague". He ran unsuccessfully for the Presidency of Brazil in 1910 and again in 1919. Barbosa died in Petrópolis, near Rio de Janeiro on March 1, 1923.
