Biography
Scottish stage actor, film and TV movies. After graduating from Radcliffe College, Bannen debuted on-stage in 1947 at the Gate Theatre. He went on to lead performances and supporting roles in over 40 films, receiving an Oscar nomination for his role in "The Flight of the Phoenix," 1965. He died in a car accident on November 3, 1999 in Scotland, age 71. His wife who evidently was driving, escaped with minor injuries.
