Biography
American journalist and columnist who won the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary in 1979. He syndicated a national humor column as the resident wit of the New York times in 1963. His literary essays are in touch with today, as well as with his 30 years of experience.
After attending Johns Hopkins University, where he was stumped by calculus and physics and honed to a fine edge the family word-gene, in 1947 he joined the Baltimore Sun as a police reporter. While representing the Sun in London, he came of age as a writer. He published two volumes of memoirs, "Growing Up," 1982 and "The Good Times," 1989.
He was married on 3/11/1950 and has three kids.
