Biography
French first manned free flight in a hot air balloon. This was the culmination of a series of steps in which the Montgolfier brothers demonstrated a hot air balloon capable of carrying the weight of a man on April 25; the first free ascent of a hydrogen balloon on August 27; the first living creatures to be carried aloft, a sheep, a duck and a cock on September 19 and the first man carried aloft in a tethered balloon, October 15.
This flight started from the royal palace in the Bois de Boulogne. The craft was the hot air balloon created by the Montgolfier brother and the two men were noblemen.
