Biography
Italian architect, artist, designer and sculptress. After receiving a degree in architecture, Aulenti began work for an architectural review and made an exhibition in Milan that saw the beginning of her career in décor in 1960. From there she has worked with Fiat in making the design stands for their show-rooms and stands for the Olivetti shops in Paris and Buenos Aires. She received international fame from her exhibit "Concept and Form" in 1976 that led to the design of several theatrical productions and costumes. In 1980, Aulenti won the contest to transform Gare d’Orsay, Paris, into a museum and also organized the Museum of Modern Art. Since then she has designed scenes for art museums, railway stations, La Scala and is currently working on museums in Istanbul, Rome and Prato. Aulenti has received numerous awards, including the Legion d’Honneur from President Mitterand.
She is a member of two associations that promote Italian high-quality products abroad. Aulenti has one child.
