German astrologer Tony Bonin reported in forum Astrologix that he received the birth time of 2:50 a.m. from Hans Genuit (claimed to be German media tzar Axel Springer's astrologer).

On 13 Jan. 2015 Sy Scholfield changed the time to 2:30 a.m. (and changed the rating from C to B) quoting from "Rudolf Augstein: Biographie" by Peter Merseburger (Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt, 2007), p. 17: "Das Licht der Welt erblickt er in der Hebammen-Lehranstalt Hannover am 5. November 1923 morgens um zweieinhalb Uhr als das sechste Kind seiner Mutter Gertrude Maria, geb. Staaden, und des Kaufmanns Friedrich Franz Maria Augstein."

Translation: "He first saw the light of the world at the midwifery educational institution in Hanover on 5 November 1923 in the morning at half past two o'clock as the sixth child of his mother Gertrude Maria, nee Staaden, and the merchant Friedrich Franz Maria Augstein."
