Biography
French ecclesiastic, Roman Catholic Cardinal; he was ordained a Priest of the Missionaries of Africa on May 21, 1972 and joined the order of Cistercians on September 7, 1982.
On August 4, 1998, he was named Bishop of Chartres, France and installed in that position on September 20, 1998. He was elevated to Archbishop in 2005, appointed on June 23, 2005. On September 4, 2005, he was installed as Archbishop of Tours, France.
