Biography
Italian ecclesiastic, Roman Catholic Cardinal from February 1998. Antonetti was ordained a priest in May 26, 1945 and assigned to the diocese of Novara. From 1947 to 1951 he studied in Rome and became the Secretary of State at the Vatican in 1951. He was elevated to Bishop in 1968 and for most of the 1970s and '80s, he was assigned to diplomatic work, with assignments in Lebanon, Honduras, Nicaragua and Zaire.
From 1977 to 1988 he was secretary of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See in Rome and subsequently served as apostolic nuncio to France from 1988 to 1995. In February 1998, he returned to the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See where he became its President for less than a year. He retired on November 5, 1998.
