Biography
American politician. Elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1998 and 2000, he waged unsuccessful run for Mayor of San Francisco in November, 2003. He began his career as a teacher in 1963; In 1975 he acknowledged his homosexuality and became a gay rights activist. He was elected to the Board of Education in 1994.
