Biography

French writer and director. Playwright and screenwriter of highly popular comedies tinged with cynicism for 50 years from his first success in 1923. Before his first play in 1922, he was a teacher and journalist. His work included "Jan Der Traumer," 1929 and "Domino," 1931. Elected to the French Academy in 1959, Achard presided over the Cannes Film Festival in 1958 and 1959 and over the Venice Festival in 1960.)

Died of diabetes, 9/04/1974, Paris.
