American explosion at a Massachusetts Electric company substation that knocked out electrical service in a Boston suburb and injured three maintenance workers. The three were inside the Glendale substation when a fire and explosion occurred; all are in intensive care. One died the following day.
Over 3,000 people were left without utility power and the Red Cross set up assistance stations.
